US sanctions against PDVSA affect the North American industry

AVN .- Venezuelan oil expert Fernando Travieso expressed this Wednesday that the unilateral sanctions through which the United States Government attacked the national oil company Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), besides representing an aggression against the sovereignty of a nation, these punish the US energy industry.
These sanctions, which arbitrarily stipulate that the Venezuelan oil company would not be able to access to U.S. government contracts neither import/export financing, “evidence the level of irresponsibility of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to handle with the energy issue.”
“In my opinion, these sanctions punish the United States oil industry itself because we have good relations with US companies,” Travieso said.
Last Tuesday, the United States announced it would sanction PDVSA for trading with Iran, but it “would not affect” the company"s sale of oil to that country. The measure would also include sanctions on six small companies of other countries.
According to Fernando Travieso, “the strategic goal the United States has set is to control areas with energy reserves,” which he considered as another attack on behalf of the US government against the Bolivarian Government.
